This position involves providing comprehensive pharmacy consulting services, including medication education, drug interaction awareness, and preventive healthcare. The pharmacist ensures accurate dispensation, review, and verification of prescriptions in compliance with regulations and company policies. They support pharmacy operations by managing workflow, inventory, and financial aspects, while fostering positive customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage and assist customers, resolving issues and delivering excellent service.
- Develop strong relationships with valuable clients through proactive support.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and privacy considerations.
- Perform medication management tasks such as drug therapy reviews, verification, and dispensing.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including Good Faith Dispensing and controlled substance laws.
- Handle insurance claims, clarify prescriptions with providers, and participate in community outreach.
- Assist in staff hiring, training, and supervising pharmacy interns and team members.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practices, participate in professional development, and seek continuous improvement.
- Manage medication inventory, patient histories, and clinical assessments, including medication safety considerations.
- Contribute to departmental goals, participate in committees, and promote safety and efficiency using automation tools.
- Minimum of one year hospital pharmacy experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree; post-graduate training in health-system pharmacy desirable.
- Active, unrestricted pharmacy licensure; ability to obtain licensure within 120 days.
- Basic computer skills; advanced order entry and clinical experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and clinical awareness.
- Certifications such as BLS or ACLS are advantageous.
