Job Title: Operations Lead

Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer

Company Overview: Unmudl (www.unmudl.com) is an Education Technology start-up Company in Austin, Texas. More about the company: Unmudl connects working learners and employers with a nationwide network of Community Colleges. Learners use Unmudl to find courses for up-skilling, re-skilling, or self-improvement, while employers use it to create or coordinate courses for training and retraining their workforce to meet hiring needs. 

About the role: The operations lead role is a new role at Unmudl and reports to the CEO. The role requires someone who is an active listener, thought partner, proactive problem solver, articulate communicator (verbal and written), and accountable team player. The objective of this role is for the individual to design, create, and lead a scalable operations function from ground zero within a fast-paced startup environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead updating, creating, documenting, and/or improving business policies and procedures to continuously improve team workflow and organization
  • Lead people operations including managing hiring and contracting, onboarding, payroll, vendors, insurance policies, and technology user licenses and access
  • Collaborate cross functionally with sales, marketing, finance, legal, and customer support, to identify process gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Serve as an escalation point for operational issues or challenges raised by functions across the organization
  • Manage, enforce and report on key performance indicators and various business objectives. Provide insights, trends, and recommendations based on data analysis to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of board and investor documents
  • Manage and process highly detailed account information across multiple systems and spreadsheets including expenses, invoices, tax filings, financial reconciliation, insurance renewal, and bank balances
  • Reconcile and close monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Lead internal and external event planning
  • Own information and file management process and infrastructure

The ideal candidate is qualified to lead HR and is well organized, self-motivated and takes pride in their work. You enjoy organizing, planning, spreadsheets, data, and solving complex problems. This candidate has experience streamlining operations for efficiency with an inherent lean towards detail. Bonus points if you’ve 1) attended a community college or were involved with a community college, 2) are currently/have been a working learner (i.e. worked and attended school or completed course work at the same time), and/or 3) worked in the customer service industry.

Details:

This position will start as a contractor position and will convert to a FT employee position shortly. In the near-term, we can accommodate part-time needs for the right hire, so long as they can dedicate 25-35 hours per week immediately. Ideally, the candidate is based in the Austin region for in-person collaboration, although most of the work will be done remote and with flexible hours.

Rate: $40 to $60 per hour, depending on experience; will discuss additional employee benefits and stock options with ideal candidates.
